All optometrists who do NHS examinations are eligible to receive a compulsory CET fee from the Department of Health. In 2008-9 this fee was £458.This payment is made in April each year to all NHS contractors. If you are an employee, it's likely that your employer will receive the payment on your behalf.
The fee is paid to you by the DoH as a payment for loss of earnings in respect of continuing education and training.
